ARC Prayer Meeting

There are many powerful attributes that are associated with Almighty God. For instance, He is omnipotent, which means He is all-powerful. He is omniscient, which means He is all-knowing. He is omnibenevolent, which means God is all-good. He is love personified (1 John 4:8). He is omnipresent, which means God is everywhere at all times.

Psalms 139:7-10 reveals this truth, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.”

Due to these and other majestic and glorious attributes of Almighty God, we can be assured that He sees and hears everything in the universe He created. Proverbs 15:13 declares, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.”

He hears the sound of every electron going around every atom in the universe. He understands our thoughts from afar (Psalm 139:2). So in one sense, God hears every prayer uttered by every person. He even hears the prayers of pagans as they pray to their heathen gods. It does not mean He delights in them, accepts them, or will answer them. It just means He literally and actually hears them. Biblically, He does not hear with a view towards answering prayer, unless we are in a relationship with Him through Christ and honor His word.

Proverbs 28:9 warns, “If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.” Proverbs 15:8 adds, “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.” Jesus’s words in John 14:6 certainly apply here: “No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Most view John 14:6 solely from the perspective of salvation. It is also true when it comes to the admonishment of praying at all times, on every occasion, and in all seasons of life.

We have this assurance from God’s Word, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). Brethren, let us meet tomorrow night, Wednesday, 8/21/24, at 7 pm ready to root and ground our prayers in the authority of God Word and be assured that He sees, knows, and will answer according to the good counsel of His own will.
