ARC Prayer Meeting
“And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD” (Genesis 4:26).
The first religious impulse came to men with the saga of Cain and Abel. The Bible is silent as to what inspired this sudden desire to offer God a sacrifice, but both felt compelled to offer it, nonetheless. This led to the first actual sin on the earth, fratricide, brother murdered brother.
As sin grew from there with all its deadly consequences, we come to the place where men began to call on the name of the Lord. This is the second time in the book of origins, Genesis, when men have the spiritual impulse to reach out to God. Before this time, it was God who initiated dialogue with men on the earth. This is the Bible’s first mention of prayer.
There are over 650 prayers recorded in the Bible. The book of Psalms has been recognized as the praise and prayer book of the church for centuries. With that much redemptive history centered on prayer in the Scriptures, how important is it to the church today?
There have been no great revivals or awakenings without a concerted prayer effort on behalf of the saints. We, at the American Reformation Church are mindful of these Biblical and historical truths, the only question that remains is are we willing to pray the price.
How about you my brethren? Are you willing to pray the price? I pray so in Jesus’ name!
